Our organization is dedicated to assist young Haitian American Women. Established in the heart of Rockland County, New York. We have years of experience working with diverse communities. An organization such as HAPWA has been long overdue. We have been able to assess and determine a great need for our programs. With HAPWA’s existence, it is certain that young Haitian American Women will further Higher education, and work harder to achieve their goals. Please join us in our effort to change the lives of many young Haitian Women. MissionTo assist young Haitian American Women and their families that are faced with difficult social issues, such as limited education, poor career choices, domestic violence, drug abuse, cultural boundaries, and teen pregnancy crisis, by working closely with local schools, businesses, and community leaders. Core Values•Dignity•Pride•Ethnicity•Community•Education•Determination Goals: To assure that young Haitian American Women pursue an advanced career path, built self-esteem, become financially independent, self-sufficient, and become good role models for their children and their respective community. It is also our determination to take responsibility to properly and accordingly Assess, Educate, Mentor, and Support them, in order to Reinforce and Preserve our Cultural Values. Target: Middle Schools, High Schools, Colleges, Community Youth Centers, Youth Bureaus and Correctional facilities.

SECOND ANNUAL HAITIAN-AMERICAN WRITERS UNITED CAMPAIGN

Special note to our members and supporters:

As you may know, HAPWA always publish its annual events one year ahead. The event calendar for 2010 was published in August 2009 for your reference. This year, due to the number of other organizations events taking place in Rockland County throughout the summer, HAPWA has decided to combine the 2nd Annual Writers United Campaign that was to take place on September 4th with the Cultural Diversity Day taking place on October 23rd at the Ramapo Cultural Arts Center in Spring Valley, NY. That way, we could have different organizations and ethnic groups represented to showcase their oeuvres.

If you are a writer and you were going to participate at the Haitian American Writers Campaign, please change your September calendar date to October 23rd.  And DON’T FORGET, deadline to register as a participant is July 31, and you’ll have until August 17 to pay the participation fee of $300.00, which will allow you a spot for a table to market your products and services. Invited writers, poets, and artists are at NO cost to display their oeuvres and market themselves. For more information, feel free to contact us.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Appreciatively yours;
