First Post Quake Building Nearing Completion

In Jeanton Haiti, a new PreSchool Annex building has been completed using the earthquake resistent engineering. It is the first of many new buildings.

Back to School - Temporary Buildings

Star of Hope supported schools were all functioning by mid-March. Most in temporary shelters because the children and staff do not want to occupy buildings even if they appear undamaged.  Back to school is important as it helps life return to normal.

Emergency Economic Assistance

Star of Hope provided an extra month's salary to the teachers and staff to eleven of our projects. This boost helped the schools reopen in late February and early March much sooner than the national average.

Post Earthquake Trauma Evaluation & Recovery

Star of Hope America, has sent three teams visiting five of our projects. These teams had child trauma counselors, early childhood educators and spiritual couselors. They spent three days with the children and staff in each project. They identified and helped those who are having difficulty in coping with the disaster.

Emergency Trauma Medical Teams

Immediately after the earthquake we provided medical trauma teams from Star of Hope Sweden that did emergency surgery and medical care in partnership HCH Hospital.
